What to bring every day
- Life Jacket / PDF – D.O.T. Approved
- Sunscreen & Hat
- Lunch & Snacks
- Lots of water
- Change of clothes & extra socks
- Proper footwear – Must cover entire foot for protection, and stay on while in the water. Watershoes or old sneakers work well. No flip-flops or sandals!
- Rain Gear
- Swim Suit & Towel
- Bailer – Cut off javex bottle with rope attached
Rules
- No Skateboards
- Bikes must be locked up during the day
- ALWAYS wear a PFD near the water
- No throwing rocks
- Respect your instructors, your peers and the equipment
- The Office is off-limits
- No foul language
- No horseplay
- Leave nature alone (starfish, jellyfish etc)
- No playing around doors
- Be on time after lunch
Lunch
- Please do not bring any peanut butter or any peanut products, as we have sailors with severe allergies.
- We will require written permission from parents who wish to allow their children to leave the BBYC premises during lunch hour. (“I give permission for my child ______________ to leave BBYC premises during lunch hour. I have discussed with my child the importance of returning on time.”)
- Supervision is provided for those who stay on the premises.
- Lunch will be approximately 1 hour long everyday, taken at the instructors’ discretion. (Usually 12pm to 1pm)
Fun Days
- Pizza Day – Pizza will be ordered at lunch time. Bring in money in the morning to place an order.
- Wacky Wednesday – Dress up as crazy and wacky as you can!
- Pirate Day – Dress like a fearsome pirate for a day of sailing the high seas. Arrrrrrrr….
- Cookie Day – Bring in a batch of cookies for a big cookie feast at lunchtime. Prizes are awarded for the best cookies.
- BBQ – Bring in money for a barbeque at lunch time.
- Chinatown Day – Sail down to Chinatown restaurant, dock up, have a delicious lunch, and sail back to the BBYC.
